Late last month Tim and I had the pleasure of attending a first aid class in the comfort of our own home. The class took 2 hours and our instructor Claire from Daisy First Aid West Essex was a lovely, personable trainer who related her own experiences to what she was teaching us. We covered CPR, Anaphylaxis, Burns, Head Trauma, Choking and more. All techniques she taught were for babies, children and adults. I’m a pretty nervous person and our family has had its share of medical crisis but I learned a lot. I think the most valuable thing I took away was a renewed confidence with CPR and the fact that ANYONE (yes, anyone!) can use a defibrillator. This was an excellent service and I think everyone would benefit from this training. In particular it would be an excellent resource for new parents or babysitters, au pairs and grandparents who may not be up to speed on the latest first aid advice. I loved how Claire took the time to both make sure we were confident with our new skills and to reassure us by relating her personal experiences and discussing our real life concerns with me. She also gave me a lovely certificate!
