We had the pleasure of attending Monski Mouse’s Christmas Baby Disco Dancehall at Christmas in Leicester Square last Saturday and it was such an amazing afternoon. The Spiegletent and other attractions are a stone’s throw from the tube (Leicester Square, Piccadilly Line or Piccadilly Circus, Piccadilly and Bakerloo Lines). Monski and her amazing team of back-up dancers and hosts do an excellent job of creating and exciting, unique and fun holiday experience for families with under-5’s. We still always take our older two along who are now 7 and 8. They have been fans of Monski Mouse for years and love teaching Wilde all the dances like Nelly The Elephant or the jubilant Conga Line to Harry Belafonte’s “Jump In The Line” aka “Shake Senora” which grown-ups will remember as Lydia’s favourite song in the movie Beetlejuice. To be honest I love these shows as much as they do (and it shows). I always find myself laughing and out of breath. I also usually cry for a few seconds because it’s SO, SO, special to connect with our kids through dance like I did with my friends back in my old rave scene days. Monski has really perfected her sets to have the just right combination of high energy pop, nursery rhymes, Christmas carols and retro classics that keeps the whole family moving.
It’s 50 minutes which is long enough to feel that you had a great time but not so long that the little ones turn on you. I ca’t recommend it enough as a special thing to do with your little ones this December. It’s truly a fantastic experience.
Upon exit there’s some seriously delicious food. I loved the chips from the German Sausage place and for thems that eat dairy there’s (gasp) Swiss Raclette… You’re also a stones throw from the Lego Store, The M&M store and all the other wonders of the West End. Go on, get your festive tailfeathers shaking!
